We can only hope people will give up on that fictional evil moral-less Christian God of yours. It'd be the best thing to happen to the planet since applesauce.

It's only legal in very blue states. Mostly in the Northeast. Most people still view it as abnormal and disgusting behavior.....which it is.

@Jackie312gm "secretly homosexuals" ... Haven't heard that phrase for years. But I wonder - is there anyone left in the closet?

Even though I have no issue with homosexuals in general, I still believe the act is wrong and against the will of God. I believe if it were intended for a man to lay with another man and/or woman with woman, they would been able to procreate. This is not the case and is an unnatural act. With that said, it is likely inevitable it will become more and more acceptable as the moral decay of our world comes to a head.

Another state that has out of control, minority gang violence weekly, corrupt government, out of control spending and close to bankruptcy...and this is their focus. Laughable.

Bishop St Valentine was a Christian marytr.
He was arrested for marrying Christian couples and aiding Christians in an era when offering them comfort was forbidden in the Roman Empire. He was beheaded on February 14th after refusing to deny his faith.

This is just my ever so humble opinion. I do not care what people do in the privacy of their own homes. I have quite a few gay/lesbian friends and a mid transition transsexual. They do not holler and raise all kinds of hell that they are being mistreated. Maybe, just maybe, this will get the GLBT community to settle down and just try and coexist semi peacefully .

I'll be so glad when it's legal across the nation. Then all the people who feared the world will end will see life goes on, just as it always has. It will be good for everyone.

Why are we trying to legalize this and create another law? How's about stopping the prevention of this, and separating church from state? Why is something that takes place in a church suddenly a legally binding contract with tax ramifications. Marriage should be between a person, their significant other and their god. The rest is a civil and contractual matter, and since its with the government, two consenting adults cannot be discriminated against.

No laws, I am aware of, mandate love. If you cannot prove love than you cant litigate or mandate it. So if love is off the table from a legal perspective, then what possible relevance is there in the gender combination? And before some of you feel compelled to chime in with the " marriage is between a man and woman" nonsense, do know thats a PERSONAL determination based on a RELIGIOUS belief. Marriage,in the eyes of the law, existed centuries before the bible and was created for asset management. Marriage as a word is also still used today, and legally recognized, as a term of union, partnership or merger amongst business entities. Remember, divorce from marriage is settled by allocating assets, and sometimes setting up a fund but never by imposing punishment of its failure.

All people deserve the same rights as each other, regardless of sexual orientation, religious affiliation, color of their skin. Civil rights are not a privilege given to a few, they are a right guaranteed by our government and it's about time we started honoring that.

It is a state by state issue. This is not something for the Federal Government to meddle in. I also add that state courts that decided they were legislators need to be corrected (California, Iowa, )

I agree, sort of. Though I do think it's good that it's being left to the states, I still think something should be done at the federal level. Something akin to the act that have blacks (or women) the same rights as whites (or men). Maybe we could call it the Equal Marriage Rights Act?

I'm not saying necessarily force the states into marrying LGBT couples, but maybe make it illegal for them to deny access to services that would otherwise be accessible to heterosexual couples? The state doesn't have to marry them, but were they married in a state that does allow it, they would be able to continue their life as such.

The Feds do need to repeal DOMA and extend federal benefits to any legally married couple. And a legal same-gender marriage performed in one state should be recognized in all 50 plus the territories.

@Keyjo Exactly, regardless if a state wants to perform same sex marriages, they should have to recognize them if performed in another state and the federal govt should also have to recognize them.

@Keyjo This is the same situation across state lines that the "age of consent" problems arise from. Two states say I can have sex with a 14 year old and 10 say a 15 year old and 25 say a 16 year old and a few others say 17 or 18. It makes no sense at all. While the right thinks everything should be states rights there are some things that should be uniform across the country. You will NEVER convince Oklahoma or Mississippi to allow gay marriage as long as they have a dime to keep it in the courts. But the end run around that is in fact a federal recognition that whether they marry gays or not the federal protections remain in place. And I support that.

    @jessejaymes
I agree. But good luck getting people to agree to allow the U.S. government to take those rights from the states.
There are many laws I'd like to see made uniform across the nation.

Civil unions are the way to go on this. Gay marriage will weaken this nation to a level that we can not come back from. It will sadly cause a civil war.

I have NO problem with gay marriage. The separation of church and state is always for the best. Don't believe me? Take a look at history and see what state-sponsored religion has done to people.

As long as religious institutions aren't forced to preform marriages contradictory to their beliefs I don't see any harm in it. They have their rights just like anyone else.

As more people get an understanding of what rights gay people are asking for more people will be okay with it. I was opposed to gay marriage myself but after thinking about it and doing a little research. I am okay with it though I still feel it is morally wrong.

This is how Liberals work in the Democrat party. You will get a few left wing radicals who get their crazy ideas out there on the media. At first the American people will say that is ludicrous and blow off the fanatics. Then the Left wing media start talking about the issue year after year until people mostly in the Democrat party start saying yes, that sounds logical. Gay marriage.... hmmmm, yes why not? Remember when the Democrats got Roe V wade passed by lying about how it would only support 1st. trimester Abortions? Well look what happened after they opened pandora's box. PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTIONS! Remember when Madelyn O'hare sued the schools to force us all to be censored from School prayers? At first she was called a controlling fanatic and not supported but look what happened. Little by little our religious freedoms have been censored one step at a time. Now we have a nut job talking about getting rid of Christmas trees. Can you see how the greatest nation on Earth can be brought down by Liberal's who have the bully pulpit of the media? It is almost impossible to stop ignorant people who want free stuff to not swallow the Liberal mantra from the Liberal media.
