This is why people think libertarians are pussies. We're living in a country that is 70 percent socialist. They are taking care of your health care, of your pensions. They're telling you who you can hire. And you want to suck up to your little liberal friends and say, 'Oh, but we want to legalize pot.'Stossel, for his part, met the fiery Coulter with the modest idea that the "individual should be left alone" in all matters, drugs or no. While Coulter's reception among the libertarian-leaning audience was less than warm, it's hard to deny that she's got a point. If not in her boosting of conservatism, then in her suspicion that libertarians are hesitant to be upfront with their liberal friends about what their philosophy really entails in the post-Bush era. "As long as the central political fights were about morality and foreign policy, liberals recognized 'more of a libertarian' as a declaration of noncombatant status," wrote the Washington Examiner's Chris Stirewalt in 2010. "But the battles of today are all about the size and shape of government; now, saying you are 'more of libertarian' means you are anti-Obamacare and anti-Washington."
