Remember Kent State, Waco, Ruby Ridge, etc. It's not far fetched to believe this. The government never has had a problem with killing American citizens. Illegal invaders? Not so much.

@PoliticalSpice I hope they don't do it. If they do then we are all screwed. Those drones will be a flyin' and people will be dyin'. No American citizen deserves that.

Last time I checked, Homeland Security doesn't operate outside the borders and they're stockpiling ammunition "for practice" to shoot who, or is it whom?

Since hollow point pistol ammunition isn't in high demand for the armed forces to use on outside the border targets, who are they practicing to shoot? Yep.. AMERICANS.

Now Sarah may be putting a bit of a spin on her comments, she is right but that's not something many people are willing to admit. Were Sarah Palin to publicly state that two plus two equals four.... the liberal media would hire twenty global warming "experts" to explain SCIENTIFICALLY how it's actually not true...

Gotta love her, Sarah can sure get the liberal's fired up.

DHS includes the Coast Guard and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. I imagine those two agencies go through a largish amount of ammo annually. And that's not including the needs of Customs & Border Protection or the Secret Service. http://goo.gl/DDWBW

Sarah Palin makes a lot of sense. I, too, was wondering why Government agencies were stockpiling bullets--hollow point at that. There is SURELY the possiblity of default. And that would surely lead to civil unrest among more than the poor.

Oops. Meant to vote up Marty, not you. Take his advice -- read the Politix article you're commenting on, then The Atlantic Monthly article they link and the Snopes article which debunks the chain email.

I've found that chain emails from an anonymous original source are a very, very bad source of information.

The real danger is that America will default on its debt, and that's why the feds have been making large bullet purchases - to control "civil unrest."

Uh, that's why I've stocked up ammo. And I can't pass up a deal when I find one.

That's what I was thinking too. Palin is like a Merry Melodies cartoon character. I cannot forget what happened in Anaheim CA last summer, therefore I cannot discount the possibility that she might be correct.

Sounds crazy, right? But it sounded crazy when Jesse Venturra ( IDK HOW HE SPELLS HIS NAME) did that story about the 6 Super Prisons in 6 different regions of America that can hold 250,000 people, with 100,000 caskets stored at each one, fenced in with barb wire and a sign on it that says Dept of FEMA. But there they are standing pround.
Or the underground city in the Ozarks, that spans 12 sq miles under ground, estimated that 100,000 could live there. But it's there.
The fact is that someone knows something that the rest of us do not, and they are getting prepared.
Why would FEMA need a million rounds of Ammo and weapons, why would IRS need to purchase over a million rounds and weapons. While at the same time down sizing our military, and down sizing our ability to defend ourselves.
Believe Palin, or not, that's up to you. Go ahead and hope for the best, hope your gov't ( or whoever is really running the show these days) is being honest and will always look out for you, but your ass better prepare for the worst.
I see no reason to trust our gov't, they put us against one another, which is simple divide and conquer tactics. Dems you feel you have been lied to for years, and now Reps feel that same way, and now we fight over minor BS made to look BIG.
I say if all this does not look strange to you, if in your heart you believe your gov't will protect you, then I sure hope you are right, for all our sakes. But, if you are wrong...?
Well I prepare, no harm in that, if I don't ever need my preperations, great? But if I do, at least I go down fighting.

@Thegrif We do have to remain vigilant. I think we have to go a few more steps before it goes totally down the drain, though. I like to think positive. But, I concede it may go all wrong.

You may not agree with or like Palin, but she is right that we should be concerned over the massive stockpile of ammo that domestic agencies have been acquiring the last year. They claim it is for training purposes, but you wouldn't think training purposes requires as much ammo as was used in 10 years of the Iraq war. Something fishy is going on in this administration. They know something that we don't.

You cannot fault Palin for being a superb Golddigger. The woman got a taste of real money, quite the governorship and has been banking ever since. She has the qualifications every single gold digger in history has had. Looks, a massive amount of greed and the ability to find a niche and mine that glory hole for every nugget it holds.

There is a trend towards this sort of tyranny in America, but it's unlikely to culminate in that for a decade and there's still time to turn it around.
This is frankly as of now absurd. The American mind has been somewhat numbed by the media and apathy and is slowly being brainwashed (intentionally or not, per sociology unintended brainwashing does occur. brainwashing does not require a plan to make it happen just a general way of thinking the elites like and so promote) into being more and more willing to give up our freedoms or at least to think "there's nothing we can do about it".
However, we're very, very far away from that point and the Republicans are as likely if not more likely to do this than the Democrats.
Ditch the two party system! It is our nation's only hope. We can destroy the 2 party system! All we have to do is vote our conscience in the elections.
We are ruled by a duopoly playing a good cop/bad cop game (which one is "good cop" depends on what matters to you most) while making special interests filthy rich and solidifying more and more control, while blaming anything bad on the other party.
We can break the duopoly. When support for its end reaches critical mass we will have the collective confidence to vote the bums out. It may be a slow process. We may only fill a few seats with independents at first, but over time with public dedication we could reach the point of having enough power to amend the Constitution for a single transferable vote or a proportional representation system either of which would be friendly to multiple parties and make the monopolization of power untenable. Both the Democrat and Republican Parties would no longer be able to even hold together.

Why would the Feds be buying hollow point ammunition. For war against china when we default on our loan? Cause you know their gonna be pissed. Hollow point ammo is against the Geneva convention and its more expensive then full metal jacket. So why are they buying it on our dime? That would really suck if I bought the ammo that would kill me. Hmmm it's a mystery....

Agree it's sinister sounding alright, because HP ammo costs much more, but this administration doesn't care about pinching pennies. (It's the Hague Convention btw, not Geneva, but yeah, expanding ammunition not allowed for most militaries. America doesn't have to abide by that rule since we never signed it, but we do voluntarily abide by it out of political consideration.)

@PoliticalSpice on 9/10/01 no one had any idea 19 terrorist would use 4 airliners as weapons of mass destruction in the most coordinated terror attack on American soil. On December 6th, 1941 no one had any idea the Japanese fleet were less than 24 hours out from Oahu.

Anything is possible. Even secession. April 12, 1861. Charleston Harbor.

With Obama & Co there is no telling what right they are going to take from us next. If he had been president 65 years ago, he would have already been impeached!
You have to look past that Sarah said this to thinking if I could be true. He's already broken the fourth amendment by flying drones all over our country and always manage to skirt the question of are these drones armed. He's been trying his damnedest to disarm us. Since that is not going has he thought it would, I wouldn't put it past him to use money the country doesn't have to stockpile ammunition so there will be a shortage and then resulting in price increase. I do not trust Obama. Obama is going to do whatever it takes to get what he wants! Why did the liberals not listen to the conservatives? Obama is doing exactly what the conservatives said he would!
