    Maybe the lawyers realize the insanity of the cause and secretly want to lose so that we can get over legalized bigotry.

    @Cheenoguy It's just a horrible arguement? Why don't they just let the gays and lesbians have what they want? They are not hurting anyone. Now they want to sit and argue pregnancies?

    This is what happens when you give the government power over citizens' private lives. Fortunately, they are equally against straight message - ever wonder why they make married people pay more taxes?

    I thought that conservatives considered it proper to get married and THEN start a family.
    For people who are all about "the sanctity of marriage" to be promoting pre-marital sex and pregnancy seems a bit hypocritical.

    While there are benefits to getting married, then starting a family, where the hell did you get the idea that conservatives practice such as a collective? That would be like me calling liberals idiots based on your comment.

    @zachsquatch HMMMM......wondering "who" is the major backer of DOMA? Maybe that's where Cheenoguy got the "conservative" idea from...nah, just wild guesses!!
    Thumbs up there Cheeno!

    @stepped_in_it You must have also forgot who could have sent that bill right back to congress with a "hell no" written all over it.
  • #38

    @zachsquatch Don't like Obama....or the Republicans who wrote DOMA! Sometimes, it's the president's job to pacify the opposing party to get what he wants....no corporation from them will get it repealed! Did we forget that?

    The argument goes straight to natural design purpose. Why humans are made male and female. Doesn't mean everyone will fulfill the created purpose, only that it is the way nature intended humans to be and is something to be sought.

    What's with the 50's style bridal gowns, hair and make-up? looks like they're wearing
    their grandma's wedding dresses, veils and all !!! Not sexy in the least. Is this the
    June Cleaver Lesbo look? LOL

    No pregnancy is accidental. If you have sex, you're welcoming the possibility of children. Only a dummy would think that contraception is 100% effective. Based on some the of the arguments many idiots have, you'd think that scientists have just recently found out that sex leads to children. Now to say that an accidental pregnancy is just cause against homosexuality, it's just trying too hard. Let them be, we have more important issues to deal with.

    Just think if they were forced to pay child support instead of having the tax payers pay it?
    Most dont even know who da baby daddy is in the first place.
    Thank God for Obamacare!

    Yeah, no deadbeat white guys out there at all... Deadbeat dads are common no matter ethnicity in this country. Hell, christianity is based on a deadbeat dad and his bastard kid being raised by another guy and his daddy not being around when he needed him most.

    @Zazziness
    No, they do NOT procreate. Know much about science?
    Homosexuals by definition must have outside intervention, help if you will, to conceive.

    So marriage should be based on the ability to procreate? Then post-menopausal women won't be allowed to marry, or men with a low sperm count, or some fella that was maimed when he stepped on a landmine in Iraq. Perhaps we should also retroactively annul any marriage where offspring aren't produced within three years or so.

    The opponents of same-sex marriage are getting so silly now, I always picture them running around like the Keystone Cops with tinny piano music playing in the background.

    Let these people do as they please make it illegal for them to adopt or artificially conceive in time they will be gone and lived their happy lives without bringing a child into the picture.The world will be better off and they will have lived their dream.
  • #13

    Wow! I've never heard anyone suggest that the government should be able to control whether a couple can have a child. When you want a big government, you *really* want a big government. People wouldn't let their own parents make a choice like that for them; they're certainly never going to accept the government playing parent and trying to do so.

    I agree. If the true science of sexual relations is to procreate, homosexuals would be gone in a single generation- which is perhaps why we never see it in the animal kingdom.

    Like two chicks out of the 50's...what's with the dated bridals dresses, hair and make-up, are they going for the 'grandma look'. Not very sexy, for sure!!

    "The argument is by no means bulletproof."
    In fact, it is utterly inept. One need not be able to procreate, nd accidental conception does not require legal marriage. Many unwed people accidentally conceive and yet do not legally marry. This argument is utterly irrelevant to the case. If this is the best they have, then they have lost already.

    Wow, 300,000 lesbians - I'd say I'd died and gone to heaven, except I'm a man, unfortunately. Hope the government allows you to get 150,000 marriages out of it.

    It’s fascinating to me that our criminal government is so preoccupied with what we do in bed and who we do it with…seeing that a marriage is between 2 people and god…I ask you what business is it of the government who you wed? Out of the thousand of more important things they can be fouling up, stressing about your personal contract with god is what they are butting into!

    I got an idea!!! How bout the government stay out of marriage IN GERNERAL!!! If you love your partner, straight/gay, then YOU should be able to commit to that person/s without any interference by any government entity!!!

    You see that's the problem nowadays... People don't get married anymore because of love!!! They get married for the money/insurance!!!

    What if your partner is your daughter? Should the government stay out of marriage and allow them to get married.

    @earl

    Not catching your drift... Why would anyone even think about that???

    Oh, where in the constitution does it give the government the power over marriage???
  • #37

    @Malitia_Man Incest happens frequently in this country. If a person can marry whomever they please, then a father could marry his daughter or 5 of his daughters. I don't believe state sanctioned incest and polygamy is a good thing.

    It's the federal governments right to be involved in marriage only because of the separation of church and state and honostly there is a good point their infidelity is legal grounds to dismiss a marriage and obviously if someone's pregnant then someone went outside their marriage but I do agree let these people be married and have a life who are we to judge homosexuality its been around as long as straight couples

    @gregtoye

    Not trying to rain on your parade, but isn't "marriage" religious??? Wasn't "marriage" formed from/by religion??? And if the government intervenes within "marriage", wouldn't that be a violation of the constitution/seperation of church & state???

    Like I said before... Government Marriage/partnership isn't about love... It's about taxes and insurance...

    I have mixed feelings about this argument, but I think the two brides look ridiculous. One of them should be dressed as the groom!

    Saying that gay couples can marry goes against my religious beliefs. Marriage came from religion. You are trying to change my religion. I am going to try anything to defend my beliefs. Equal rights I am fine with, call it co-habitation but not marriage. Don't try to redefine something that has been around for 2000 years. Its defintion itself does not hurt anyone. Just change the laws for equal rights for gays/lesbians

    Government should only intervene when children are at risk otherwise stay out of our families. Straight, gay but limited to 2 adults. The more solid families not only strengthen communities they provide tax dollars and other revenue.
