Build guard tower, and install Rangers with night vision and sniper rifles.
Shoot a few...and Ilegals will stop coming... end of story!!

Good objective, but that's 19th century technology. Electronic sensors are real cheap now, as are the IT systems to coordinate them. We could stop 99% of the people currently getting through, and do it at a fraction of the cost we have now. The Civil Service does not understand our capabilities, unfortunately.

@Ryuo .. Two fences 50 foot apart... with the land between the fence seeded with anti personnel mines and automated self targeting machine gun mounts set in range of each other looking down the line.... Of course we would need to pop for signs in several languages says don't even think about it... Would be an incentive to drop the illiteracy rates along the line....

@Quantummist - Yeah we should shoot and kill thousands of people, yeah... sure, ok... because we know guns solve all kinds of problems, right?

Of course it can be secured, and it must be. Our culture, our economy, and our way of life is at stake. We must enforce law and order. That is what this country was built on. I have no problem with anyone migrating to this country, just do it the right way. Apply, get at the back of the line, and wait your turn. It's that simple.

Another beautiful way to secure the border is to turn off the magnet that attracts so many illegal immigrants in the first place. No more guaranteed education, free health care, welfare, food stamps, or other perks designed specifically to attract those who would break our immigration laws. To top that off, and most importantly, no more guaranteed citizenship for anchor babies. America, we can do this. Only if we're united, though.

@Neo_NtheMatrix you posted everything i was about to post. Boots on ground is the answer to this huge problem. Give our military the right to use deadly force-end of story.

    @Neo_NtheMatrix
Exactly. No anchor babies. You drop a child here in the US we keep the child place them in a foster home and send your butt back home. No welfare for you. No foodstamps for you. No tuition. The dream act was just a free meal ticket to children of law breakers! Work isn't what is attracting these people here it's all our free social programs that they can leach off of without paying taxes.

This is a simple fix.(1)$10,000 per day for ANYONE hiring illegals (2)$10,000 for anyone renting or selling to them a place to live (3) no medical care & (4) all civil fines to be quadrupled. Stan clear because they all will be making a mad dash for the border.

@DogLady_1 Every clock is right twice a day. You can say that those regimes have more pride in their Countries than we do. You can even say that those misguided folks every love their children more than we do........but, we will see. It all depends on whether Democrats put pressure on Team Obama to remember their sworn LOYALTY is supposted to be to AMERICAN families.

@BossTweed - Yeah, and that depends on some of you define "loyalty"... It seems anyone who wants to use their brains to solve problems these days are accused of being wussy or unAmerican... gotta get our guns out for everything, right? Too many trigger-happy, blood-lusting people in this country today... dispicable!

Bring our military home, put them on the border and let them secure it, then we are paying for something valuable to us. That border can be secured, then do the same on the Canadian Border and all sea ports. After securing the boundaries of the country, look for those that are here on expired visas and passports, including student visas. We can get our country back if we stop bickering over how and just do it. As long as we are formulating plans, it means we are not doing the job. Quit planning and accomplice the task

The only way to stop illegal immigration is to dry up the jobs. Go after anyone who hires illegals in a serious way (the Republicans won't do this because most of the people getting in trouble would be Republicans) and they will stop coming. Blaming them for coming here for a better job is counter productive. you all would do the same thing in their shoes. Blame the people that hire them.

If there are jobs available, they will come.

    It is that simple.

Ummm nope. This might prevent some from coming, but if there is free college tuition, welfare, food stamps, free healthcare, etc. waiting on them if they have a child here then they will continue to come.

Their country has no desire to give them a better life and they have no weapons to have a revolution or fight back against the drug cartels to get a better life. So they flee to a country that they can get all the freebies with no taxes and little work.

Ah Sweden. About as diversified as a cup of white milk and about the size of one of our medium sized states. What is the average education level for a country like Sweden? We could have such a country if we actually valued education.

@DrNickels I've concluded the more primitive a country's people are, the more fighting that takes place.

It would seem despite our contrived attempts at force feeding ultra-civilization to everyone, a pattern of de-evolving seems evident and the day may come where people of the world see reason to think Americans might lower themselves to the same fighting we all expect from less civilized and poorer nations, like Mexico, if only they had means.

Are border enforcement and immigration enforcement national priorities? If so, then strengthen the border and dissuade foreigners from coming here illegally.

Stop funding other, less important and non-enumerated functions of government to pay for these things.

So who read this little nugget in the above article?

The focus should instead by on naturalizing undocumented folks in the country, without whom the U.S. economy would collapse.

    Huh?

How many times has amnesty already been given? What is the definition of crazy? We have gone from the most industrial nation in the world to the most over-run nation in the world with illegal immigrants while our industry went to the country the illegals are from. Thanks, there, Congress. Secure the border, go after anyone with a business license hiring them, and anyone housing them. In other words, enforce the law already on the books. If this Congress will not, 2014 we elect one that will.

Securing, yes, but the US-Mexico border is as secure as the US-Canadian border, or our coastlines. The difference is that Mexico is a very impoverished, very corrupt, very lawless country, and as such, there will always be a huge number of people that try to migrate from there, and other poor Central American countries, to the USA. Unless we build an "Iron-Curtain" type wall, complete with mines, machine-gun towers, barbed wire along the tops of the walls and a HUGE military presence, it's kind of hopeless. We must take a number of steps towards eliminating the motivation to migrate. One of them, as the Western Hemisphere's greatest consumer of illegal (and legal) drugs is to de-criminalize drugs and so take the profit motive out of drug cartels; maybe establish some sort of "brazero" program for the USA, with tightly controlled entry points through which migrant workers, fully registered, photographed and fingerprinted, can come and go to fields to pick crops and/or engage in other occupations that Americans don't want to perform. Some states, like New Mexico, for example, which gives drivers' licenses to illegal aliens make it very attractive for undocumented workers to migrate here and mingle and work with the native population. If the heavily Democratic NM State House of Representatives and NM Senate would give in to the wishes of the NM voters (who voted by about 70% to abolish licenses for undocumented workers) maybe we could take a first step to managing our Southern Border. Make no mistake, we also get a VERY LARGE number of illegals from Canada, England, and Eastern Europe, but many Americans don't appear to have a problem with THOSE undocumented workers, who are the ones who DO take the higher paying American jobs away from Americans.

Our coffee consumption plays a role, too. The multinational corporations buy up what were family farms. The family moves to the city where their agricultural skills are useless. They live in poverty until they can manage to move somewhere there family has more hope. Fair trade purchases of imported goods can help.

Track down and deport illegals priority #1, then secure border with all our troops out there policing the world. After that we already have a "path to citizenship" been in place long time...

the first thing needs to be making our border as secure as humanly possible,if not they will keep coming. then make life so harsh they leave. having bp at schools and er's all state agencies would put the fear they need to feel in them.

place a $20 dollar bounty on their heads, bonus money for those taken with sporting arms such as muzzle loaders, bow and arrow, ninja throwing stars, frog gigs, etc

still can't understand the 'path to citizenship' - we need to fix what is broken in the existing immigration system that makes so many folks willing to live in hiding. then they can apply via the normal process. providing a shortcut will only continue the failures of past and present into the future, just like the amnesty back in the 80s.
