We meddle in other countries affairs and these countries do not have the ability to attack our countrie as we do theirs so why should we be surprised when they fight back the only way they now how? Maybe if we would mind our own business other countries might not hate us so much?

@marine1 Our problem is we are too giving and too kind. I do not care about any country other than the US. now... I say let them starve, fight to the death, and stay
away from all of them, until they attack us, and then it's all over.

Yes! We're the landlord. Evict them. Stop subsidizing the rent, the parking tickets, and the local crimes that these vermin perpetrate on our soil. They shit on us and our beliefs at our expense. All one needs to consider is what nations sit on the security council. Ineffective and weak. Doing little except to act as apologists for the world's most extreme oppressors. Enablers of genocide! Get out!

None of the victims of the Boston terrorist attack had anything to do with American policy. They died because 2 fundamentalist Muslim terrorists couldn't make it in America and decided to kill people in the name of Islam. The end result is that peace loving people in all nations have an even lower opinion of Islam because of their actions. These scumbags represent Islam the way that Westboro Baptist represent Christians.

Sadly you are right, but do the murdered children of Iraq and Afghanistan (not to mention all the proxy murders via support for horrible regimes) also had nothing to do with any of the reasons (occasionally valid but usually BS) that led to their being murdered.

@PNWest What can you possibly mean? It is a grotesque and cowardly lie to say that American policy has no effect on the incidence of attacks on American interests. Time and time again we've seen that muslims who attack American interests are angry about American foreign policy. In this case we don't know much about their beliefs but given what we know of the world, it is a *very* reasonable supposition that a muslim man who attacks Americans is angry with American policy.

Please note I'm not defending or condoning anything. I'm just trying to avoid the discussion becoming warped into a version which has no similarity to reality.

@ded These two losers did what they did because the older brother couldn't make it in American society and turned to a warped version of Islam. The little brother apparently looked up to him and now will probably spend the rest of his life in prison. Had the older brother been a better boxer or gotten along better with his fellow Americans none of this would have happened. There's a reason why all of these guys become terrorists. They can't make it in the real world and turn to fundamentalist religions for solace that tell them that those who are more successful than they are must be evil.

@PNWest But you do agree that American foreign policy has increased the number of people in the world who wish to do America harm, relative to what that number would be had America not invaded Iraq and not decided that it has the right to execute people via drone attacks in whatever part of the world it feels like, and kill their mom and kids and aunts and cousins along with them when necessary?
  • #71
    !
@ded Yes. However I believe that the drone attacks are warranted. Drone attacks are targeted at those who have the motive and means to harm us. We are preventing them from having the opportunity. I think that the tradeoff is worth it.

I read this earlier today in FPJ.
Falk has been castigated for his remarks- why is this condemnation of his remarks not also reported?
He has earlier been censured by the UN Sec'y General, and by the US Ambassador to the UN among others- but where is this reported in this story?
    Just report, please.
This smacks of editorializing by omission.

Of course American foreign policy and drone strikes and support of Israel will cause some people to want to do evil to the USA. That's not an opinion; that's simply logic: given sufficiently many people in the world who are already somewhat unhappy with the USA, if you kill women and children in drone strikes, then you will push some small fraction of them over the edge.

Now that doesn't necessarily mean that America's actions are wrong; just that they have consequences.

It's pathetic to be so dishonest as to not admit to the simple fact that agressive foreign policy has consequences.

I agree with you that our country has brought on many of its own problems because it has an almost addictive need to rule the world. We created our own misfortune in the Middle East decades ago, and we have continued to poke at it like poking a stick at a snake.

Those people in Boston were innocent, but that's OUR viewpoint. We continue to fail to see the viewpoint from any other angle and that's why our enemies will continue to find ways to terrorize us. And our own fear will eventually strangle us. We'll become more and more of a police state because we have to be ever mindful of our violence nation - that coming from our own people and that from those who align themselves with our enemies.

Nothing is being solved or resolved. We continue to coddle and protect Israel, which does absolutely nothing for us except continue to be a tremendous financial burden. We've invaded countries, we've toppled governments, we've bombed and destroyed, we've murdered and left destruction in our wake everywhere we've been. We literally have to pay countries to not turn against us.

We are, by no means, peace-loving people. Until we learn to be such, we can expect to be the target of years and years of anger and hate against us that we've generated.

Your reply,"falk him and the horse he rode in on..." I agree.....You do have a way with words, My sentiments exactly.
The United Nations is United in one goal, the goal to insult, pillage and plunder the United states through the good offices of the United Nations.U.N. program after program has done nothing but enrich the foreign thugs who use the U.N as their private fiefdom.
For example,"at least two major U.N development agencies, described as having accumulated some 3.2 billion dollars in cash in 2009 refused to divulge exactly what they spent their program money on, according to a confidential draft report prepared in the summer for the government of Norway....:"
"The missing cash was part of a much bigger total of at least $12.2 bllion dollar U.N. agencies had in unspent cash in their accounts at the end of 2009." Also.... "The U.N. High Commission on Refugees, refused to provide spending details " particularly on recent staff costs."
The Money flows into the United Nations and flows out but no one knows or will tell, at the U.N. where the money went...."Some.... at the U.N. even privately speak of theft at the U.N. as a kind of redistribution of wealth from the rich nations who fund the body to the poor nations that may benefit from the corruption." Isn't it way past time for the United States to tell the U.N.that the parties over, at America's expense find another sucker to bleed, good luck!

You are reacting to the title that Politix has for this topic. The man didn't say that Boston had it coming. He said it was to be expected with our political involvement around the world especially the middle east. He wasn't justifying the attack.

And people wonder why we don't respect the UN? I'm sure when the crap hits the fan the UN will have its hands out begging. I say we kick them out of NYC and use the building for some business that would like to rent the space.

Why? He said it was horrible that it happened but that we should reflect on the fact that those that bring evil on others must respect it in return. When the u.s. invades countries and kills innocent women and children --- Iraq, Veitnam, Panama, Grenada, or supports said efforts through the cia -- El Salvador, Nicaragua, Chile, Afganistan before the Taliban were in power (by working with Bin Laden), it is no big surprize when folks come here and do the same thing back. Do I support bombing covilian targets in the u.s. no, do I understand why it happens? Yes. Many right wingers on this very site have posted in support of killing immigrants who come here to work without papers, supported the war on Iraq, said they didn't care about innocent muslims killed, so this is what happens. I have predicted this very thing, that terrorist would attack the u.s. for the wars we wage. This guy said the war in Iraq was his motive. All Falk did is say that what goes round comes around. No worse then some stuff said by right wingers on this site, indeed, milder in nature then some of the things written on here about immigrants and the left...

@PoliticalSpice You may have a point but I wonder, had we played this kind of politically correct war with the Nazi's in WW2 would we have won? I don't think so.....
How much evil has the middle east countries done to everyone around the world and their own people? They are FAR from being peace loving people.....
  • #124
    !
@Knightkore First, I am not saying we should not be attacking al quada. They launched a war against us, I am saying the u.s. reaps what it has sown. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. We reduced much of its cities to dust, murdered tens of thousands of civilians, tortured people. To say the mid-East countries have done evil is a mirror image of what this wacko that bombed the boston marathon uses as his reasoning - the u.s. has done so much evil. And it has hardly been confined to the post 9/11. Indeed the mention of World War 2 where the u.s. fought on the side of freedom because since that war, virtually every military and CIA paramilitary action taken by the u.s. has been against countries that never attacked or harmed the u.s. the u.s. has brought suffering to millions of innocent people, or at least people who did no harm to the u.s., since the end of ww2. Eventually we found Afganistan, not after 9/11, but in assisting bin laden and the taliban. But in doing so we entered an alliance with people as evil as u.s. policy makers, and this time it finally caught up with the u.s. Bin Laden was a religious fanatic and when daddy bush went after Iraq the u.s. finally met an enemy that wasn't content endding the figut on their soil. They attacked in saidi arabia, yemen, africa, and then came 9/11. In actuallity the checnean bombers probably never would have happened if the u.s. had not supported bin laden in afganistan. The defeat in afganistan was instrumental in the collapse of the ussr. Had ussr not collapsed chean terrorist probably wouldn't be an issue. Do not misunderstand, I deplore the boston bombing, ad I do any bombing that murders or maims civilians or is aimmed at civilian targets, including u.s. drone attacks and the victims of all u.s. wars named in my previous comment.

Who really thought we could get away with arbitrarily invading a country, causing the deaths of around 100,000 of its citizens, and not get some payback? I don't agree with Dr Falk on all points, but his premise isn't unreasonable and, as Ron Paul proves, not unique.

There is a hint of truth here. How would you respond if your children and neighbors had been wounded or killed by unmanned drone strikes? Our actions are not winning hearts and minds, nor are they winning a war. They are consolidating our enemies, and giving them a common target to hate.

Fine. When they stop beheading foreign journalists, then we can stop. These people act like it's the year 1013, not 2013, but Islam keeps them stuck in the past. If it wasn't for oil, they'd still be living in tents, wandering the desert today.

This guy is an idiot Liberal just like the ones living in this nation who hate America but live off it's riches. We have drones killing people because of 3000 dead Americans lest you forget. If they don't like drones, they should not have blown up the trade center. How did he put it? They had the drones coming to them. Don't you just love the UN? This is why Obama loves the UN. He also hates America & wants to transform it to the liking of the UN. He wants to give more power to the UN over our laws. Remember what the first Lady said.... for the FIRST time in her life she respected America after electing Obama. Do you see how Liberal's think?
