One thing I wonder is if ambassadors are allowed to be armed or have access to weapons while on the grounds of the embassy? I wouldn't want to be working at one of those places, especially in that region of the world, unless I was as well armed as any military squad.

    @Concerned_Cit
Traditionally, Ambassadors are not personally armed, being diplomats. There is an armed security force on the grounds as well as a small armory, the safe room.

@GuyFawkes Wasn't much of a security force in Benghazi from news accounts. A few foreign guards who kept their firearms in a separate location, and who hid when the fighting started. Definitely a major red flag for any security minded person.

    Agreed.
Ambassador Stevens undoubtably agreed with you as well, considering his repeated requests for additional security.

This is a disgrace. Of course SpecOps could have been sent to the embassy and deployed rapidly.
    Ambassador Stevens asked for help.
    None arrived.
As Sec'y of State, Hillary Clinton should have acted. Period. But she gets a pass since she was following the directive of her boss, Mr. Obama.
There are those who speculate that bad blood still exists between the two following the hostile campaign between the two and Clinton's subsequent loss to Obama- she is considerably smarter than the buffoon amateur president and knew he will eventually have to answer for the Benghazi matter, so she quietly followed orders and Ambassador Stevens died.
She then clearly obfuscated before Congress but escaped censure, the censure and rebuke that she knows historically awaits Mr. Obama.

This story came out on Fox News at about 5:30 am this morning. I wonder why Politix felt that stories about Mike Tyson's opinion on Obamacare, Gay basketball players,'raging douchebag' Disney Execs and 1 person claiming to be Native American being outraged over a billboard, should've taken precedence over this story? What's up with that, Politix?

The reason we posted the stories you mentioned earlier in the day rather than the Benghazi story is that we are based on the West Coast and have a small staff. The Tyson story and others you mention were written the previous night. No one got to the Benghazi story until this afternoon simply because we did not get to it, not because we didn't think it was important.

@PolitixMary Just seems a little suspicious how I saw this on Fox this morning at 5:30 , not sure why it would've taken over 12 hours to cut, paste, write a the usual one paragraph story and post links...

It doesn't matter where the 'special forces' needed to come from to respond to this 'planned ' mooslem terrorist attack . The simple facts are that - BO refused to act & allowed more Americans to die . This elitist-socialist takes the times to respond to a gay basketball player BUT NEVER RECOGINIZED the two ex-Seal American HEROES who killed more than 60 jihadist animals & gave their own lives in defense of others. BO the phony in chief needs to get his priorties straight .

Obama refused to act? Have you even looked at the Benghazi timeline, getting there in 4 hours would have meant that they woulda been 3 hours to late to save Stevens and Smith. As for Doherty and Woods, they were part of the relief force that arrived later, they were manning machine guns on the roof, they were killed by mortar rounds. Unless these special forces were bringing anti mortar missiles ... they could have just as easily been on the roof with them and added to more Americans killed!

Pentagon releases official timeline of Benghazi attack - CNN.com
    www.cnn.com/2012/11/09/world/africa/libya-ben...
Jan 23, 2013 – The Pentagon released Friday an hour-by-hour timeline of the September 11 assault on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

This just highlites the value obama buts on American life. If his ass would have been there we would have had troops in place within the hour.

the saddest part ( besides the slaughtered personnel obviously) is the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State and most likely the president of United States hesitated. they were afraid to act. they even use the excuse they didn't want to send troops in because it was dangerous... there are right now people riding camels with one AK 47 who actually think they are stronger than United States of America because of the clown running things now

@marine1 Obama did not have to be there, you say you are a marine then you should know that the President cannot control every time we get hit by terrorist. If that is not true then Bush should be charge for the world trade attack, while he was playing around at a school !

absolutely. and they would have been dispatched at the first sign of trouble had we elected a patriotic American president

Don't show your ignorance. Decent Americans care about our DEAD Ambassador and object to the cover up. Why don't you want to be counted as a Decent American? Just to cover for Obama and Hillary is not much of an answer.

@BossTweed Well I'll tell you what....You get me a source Other than the right wing partisan Fox Network who come up with the same conclusion, then I will get on board...Until then I won't "show my ignorance" by believing some story put out by fox, only to learn down the road, that they had it all ass backwards......Like they have done, MANY times before!!!

I think this has been one of the biggest cover-ups in American history and it is a disgrace. Extra protection should have been sent the first time it was requested . Now we have how many dead and injured Americans? Can you imagine the grief and heartache that the parents and loved ones of these slain Americans are feeling? And yet they do not have their questions answered. The purpose of our government is to protect its citizens and after seeing someone that was in the unit that could have been sent to Benghazi talk about that night made me feel ashamed of our government. This should not be a Democrat or Republican argument but each and everyone of us should be demanding the truth about that night. One thing we do know is that deaths were not caused because of some anti-Muslim film! They were caused by pure evil.

"... after seeing someone that was in the unit that could have been sent to Benghazi talk about that night ..." I read the article a second time. I find nothing that claims this anonymous source was in the Special Forces unit that could have been called. This is someone who claims to have witnessed the attack in Benghazi, meaning he was already there. Which makes me wonder what he was doing during the attack, come to think of it ...

@Denizen_Kate I am old but not senile yet (or at least I don't think I am) and I did see a t.v. program that an anonymous man who was in the Special Forces unit that could have been called appeared. I really don't want to argue about this with anyone. I guess that I am so passionate about this folly because I just can't imagine what the parents, wives, daughters and sons are going through right now. I am the mother of two sons and I would move heaven and earth to find out what happened to my child in this situation (as I'm sure every parent would). They just want answers and they deserve them .

how about you rephrase that question do you think the commander in chief of the United States Armed Forces... should have deployed troops to save our ambassador and members of the State Department and intelligence departments?.... see how stupid that sounds .. it's a no brainer. any decent president would have done it immediately any Secretary of Defense worth a bag of shit would have done it immediately...

So lets recap this story by Fox. A "memebr of special ops" who wants to remain anonymous is theor source? Not really credible, but OK? Yet this "source" has knowldge of a training exercise in coatia? Righhht??????

I have served for 17 years....we never took actual ammo into a training exercise...but Ok? And the timeline is based upon this "source"'s opinion of how fast a c-110 can fly? If you say so, i guess?

What would they have done 4-6 hours later....raised the dead?

Fox really needs to start considering standards
  • #110

@Denizen_Kate I have been in the military for nearly two decades. You would think a "special ops guy" would know that the US military hasnt used C-110 planes since the Korean war?

I am sure they meant C-130....but the guy in the Fox story fabricating department didnt bother to check his facts!

@FFS- Thank you very much for your service. I live in the vicinity of Moffet Field and have seen C-130s take off and land. What an awesome noise they make!

What's sad here (other than the loss of American lives due to the incompetence of the State department) is that this person has to keep his identity secret because Obama will see that he is charged even if the person is speaking the truth.
  • #58
    !
Charged with what? If Obama filed charges against everyone who spoke out against him, there wouldn't be enough lawyers in the universe to work those cases through court.
  • #125
    !
@Denizen_Kate Obama and Nixon are in common company with each other by charging Whistle-blowers with the rarely used 'The Espionage ACT' from World War I. Even Bob Woodward was threatened by the Whitehouse for speaking against Obama on his sequester fiasco. According to Mr. Woodward in an interview on CNN (I'm surprised CNN didn't filter that from the public), the statement made to him by the Whitehouse was that 'he would regret it' for speaking against Obama.
  • #127
    !
@fncitori - I read about that at the time. The "regret" comment to Woodward was taken out of context from an email he received from a White House staffer. He become a little bombastic in his later years ... like Ann Coulter, he's pretty much out to sell books and speaking engagements these days, and makes controversial remarks accordingly. Salt shaker always at the elbow ...

Do you know of any specific incidence where Obama or his administration has actually brought "The Espionage ACT" charges against someone?

This is another Obama blunder. We know he is not going to so anything to offend any of the Muslim brotherhood. These are his buddies and he thinks they like him WRONG they take our money and arms and laugh behind his back, then use the weapons against us.
  • #119
    !
It was announced today on several political radio stations that people "in the know" were told to keep their mouth's shut or lose their jobs. Simply put-Obama at work AGAIN!
  • #107
    !
Of course. They should of went in there with guns a blazing. A couple A-10 Warthogs for crowd control and a C-130 Spooky just for shitngiggles.

Only a liberal would ignore the desperate calls for help and then make up a BS story as an excuse for the muslim brotherhood because American lives aren't as important as their political ambitions.

We can expect Obama, Holder, Hillary, Reid, Pelosi and most other Democrats to block any real investigation into Benghazi just like we can expect liberal lunacy to discount this story because it's from FOX.

They're only allowed to watch the bottom feeders at CNN and MSNBC.

Having served in the military and being aware of the capabilities, they could have been there very fast through an airdrop of troops from a C-141 or C-130. Those troops could have been there within 90 minutes if our State Department had requested them and the Department of Defense had authorized the troop drop. Its called a Ready Reaction Force, and they are on duty in these areas 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are packed and ready to go immediately. The President and State Department need to just be honest and stop the BS they are promoting.
