It's an easy argument. Trayvon Martin did no crime, he was walking home with snacks and was stalked and murdered by George Zimmerman. Zimmerman has THREE ARRESTS and had no business driving around with a loaded pistol and ignoring the dispatcher's direct order to stay in his vehicle. If George Zimmerman were Deshawn Washington and Trayvon Martin were Todd Peterson then every person happy supporting Zimmerman would be screaming for the THREE TIME ARRESTED Deshawn to get the gas chamber.

You can honestly say that beyond the shadow of a doubt?

I really cannot say that Trayvon was or was not a threat. Both sides of the story are rocky.

@vols88 Who gave a different side of the story? The VICTIM has been on trial but the VICTIM can't give his side since he was murdered. There is no side of this story that shows the THREE TIME ARRESTED George Zimmerman to be anything but guilty of stalking and killing an innocent boy walking home with snacks. Zimmerman doesn't say Trayvon had broken the law or that he'd seen him break the law before. All Zimmerman has as a suspicion is the color of Trayvon Martin's skin and we have to remember that the THREE TIME ARRESTED Zimmerman is not a police officer and was told by the 911 dispatcher to stay in his vehicle. He ignored them and went out to play cowboy and Trayvon Martin lost. Zimmerman deserves the Death Penalty.

Zimmerman is not guilty of anything. He exercised his right to self defense when the racist thug Trayvon sucker punched him and tried to kill him. As far as I'm concerned Zimmerman should get a medal and a check from Crime Stoppers. Case closed.

Trayvon punched him in his car? Oh that's right zimm got out and pursed Trayvon. Looks like Trayvon exercised his right to self defense against the racist thug Zimmerman. When u pick a fight and lose u don't get to shoot the other guy. He deserves nothing but a cold cell for the next 25 yrs.

@EnemyCombatant Zimmerman has every right to get out of his car and see what is going on in his neighborhood. We need more people like him to patrol our neighborhoods. And we need to keep racist thugs like Trayvon out of our communities and neighborhoods. Not guilty!

Zimmerman is guilty of premeditated murder. At every step he made a decision to go forward and continue to escalate it to the point it resulted in another man being dead. Zimmerman was armed with a gun and stalking a man in the middle of the night like some wannabe cop. Zimmerman made his choices. It's time Zimmerman face the consequences of those choices.

@fraps The same thing you'd likely say if he is found guilty. The system doesn't work and the jury made the wrong decision.
  • #132
    !
@frigginhell No. I have no dog in this hunt. I trust the jury. It is an unbiased group of citizens. I also think the Judge has been superb, The only thing that seems to be incompetent from the various news sources is the prosecution. I also think the trial is more a result of political pressure than anything else.
  • #11

what does it really matter at this point? the only way he'll be found guilty is if the jury is intimidated by a mob of black racists out in the street... probably led by Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson.

@Denizen_Kate No more than it did in the OJ trial. We've been presented with another case where the majority of people are picking sides due to race and political affiliation.
This trial like its predecessor has nothing to do with Justice.

Nice, find the picture that makes Zimmerman look like a raging psycho, then run a story calling him guilty. I miss the days when TRUE journalists were unbiased reporters!

@PolitixMary And my comment about "true journalists" was aimed at the Conservative pundit. I have much disdain for conservative and liberal pundits. I appreciate the voice Politix gives to average joes.

I haven't followed the trial every day. How does he know that Zimmerman was carrying his weapon with the safety off? That is a good way to shoot yourself, and it seems unlikely to me.
  • #70
    !
The Kel-Tec handgun Zimmerman had is a DA only semi-automatic. Think of it like a DA revolver, the gun is cocked then fired by squeezing the trigger, it's designed to be carried safely with a round in the chamber, there is no external safety.
  • #71
    !
@CircuitCircus Ok, so it is like Sig-Sauer handguns with which I am familiar. That is not the same thing as carrying a gun with the safety off.

Two problems with this statement. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who carries a gun who doesn't keep a round in the chamber. That's why guns are usually listed as x+1 capacity. Secondly the Kel-Tec PF-9 pistol doesn't have a manual safety. Most modern striker fired carry weapons do not have a manual safety.

Zimmerman was told by the 911 operator not to pursue Trayvon once he took it upon himself to get out of the vehicle I believe proves his guilt
  • #143
    !
But he told the operator he would go back to his car. Martin attacked him before he made it. If Martin told Rachel he was almost at his fathers house how did he end up so far from it if he wasn't going after Zimmerman?

@catiz apparently you have been following the case more than I have please explain to me what was the probable calls for Zimmerman to initially follow Trayvon Martin I was led to believe that it was just because of Trayvon was an African American could you please enlighten me about this supposedly misunderstanding why was in a min outside of the vehicle please help me understand

I wish Politix would fix the site so when you accidentally vote the wrong way you can fix it. Apparently Michael Savage has no experience with concealed carry. You always have a round in the chamber and the safety off. In case the weapon is needed, you don't have time to chamber a round and release the safety. He should take a serious CC class before he spouts off.
  • #32
    !
What firearms course did you take that teaches to always have a round chambered and to go around with the safety off? That's the kind of crap information and stupid habit that gets people shot and killed "accidentally" each and every day. Take your own advice about spouting off before you get someone killed. For Christs sake, you can't even take a computer poll without f@king it up and crying about it.
  • #36

@rkinsawjoe The course I took was taught by an ex-Navy Seal and current SWAT officer who has had far far more experience than you have indicated in your post.

    @SAS86

You should make the distinction between some weapons. I carry my 1911 chambered, hammer back safety on... condition one. Granted that's because it's a single action. Maybe you should point out do the idiot above you how Glocks don't even have manual safety devices. Then let him guess as to how many cops don't carry their sidearms without one in the chamber.
  • #40
    !
@John_Matrix My XD doesn't have a manual safety, but has 3 other built in safeties. Also, most cops I know have a round chambered, hammer back, if they carry a hammer type weapon. What and how I carry depends on the neighborhood and the time of day. If I just "want the gun along" I don't carry a loaded chamber, but if and when I anticipate needing it I will chamber a round.

I don't care about threats or pressure either way. I don't care about threats of riots. I don't care about threats from the Obama administration. All I care about is that justice is served either way!
  • #48
    !
Yeah but this is gonna be OJ part deux. Depending on whether you are white or black, or put another way, whether or not you are black, is gonna decide how you see the verdict. ESPECIALLY if he's aquitted. I will be the first to get on here and publicly apologize for my pre-judgemental thinking about what is going to happen if he is acquitted. I think it will make the LA riots look like a campfire. I may be wrong, but I don't want to see him found guilty just so Florida DOESNT burn. That wouldn't be justice to me. And am I allowed to go around chanting no justice no peace if THAT happens? I think not. And I think we both know why.

@advocate you get to see what media wants you to see about tray n, not the real person. I don't know anything about the kid and nobody does that has learned it all from the media. I just want and hope for a fair trial, and not a fake controlled by the media and Washington, D.C.

    Three undisputed FACTS:
    1) Trayvon was walking to the store and back
    2) George Zimmerman killed him.
    3) Geroge continued to follow him after dispatch said they don't
need him to do that and he said 'ok'

Zimmerman became responsible for the death the minute he didn't
    back off.

Florida should show outrage if Zimmerman is acquitted. Zimmerman has lived his life knowing my dad is a judge and he will fix my problems. He killed Trayvon because he was a black boy in his neighborhood that he didnt know so he assumed that he had to be up to no good, When in fact Trayvon was a good kid who smoked a little weed but was also, Trayvon Martin
    1. Was an honor student with a 3.7 GPA.
    2. Was accepted at a college on a full ride
    3. Was a volunteer of more than 600 service hours
    4. Was a devoted member of his church
    5. Was a loyal friend & a loving son
    6. Was an INNOCENT boy

Impressive resume. However, that doesn't make Trayvon incapable of putting one's life in danger.

I don't know Zimmerman's guilt or lack thereof. I wasn't there. There is reasonable doubt that Zimmerman was simply targeting a young black man who was not a danger. There is reasonable doubt that Martin was a threat.

There is too much doubt for me to take either side. You don't know anymore than I do about what truly happened.

    @Sunshinez

Some deaths are more politically useful than others.

Twenty years ago this week, the Clinton administration ordered a tank assault on the Mount Carmel community, killing 39 racial minorities, 26 of them black. The Clintons and the media suppressed the racial data so rigorously that I doubt even Al Sharpton knows about the black dead at Waco.

I have followed events closely. Since the beginning I have believed this to be a politically based trial. The prosecution pretty much has proved the defenses case, It also pretty much proved that this case is politically motivated. The final proof of that was the coroner's testimony, or better described as attempted refusal to testify. When the trial resumes I expect the defense to be like great white sharks having a feeding frenzy when their pathologist who wrote the book on the art destroys every statement the coroner made.

There are a number of things that caught my attention during the trial so far. I'm not convinced that Zimmerman is as innocent as he proclaims, I see his point of self defense and also see how Trayvon could be the victim also. I will wait and see what a jury of his peer's has to say about it.
