Obamacare is so unpopular in Kentucky that government officials have been marketing it under a new name - Kynect. And it turns out that rebranded as Kynect, Obamacare is going over pretty well.
One middle-aged man heard about Kynect for the first time at Kentucky State Fair. He told workers, "this beats Obamacare I hope" after hearing the impressive benefits of the new law. At one point, people were crowding up to the Kynect booth 18 deep, the Huffington Post reports.
Reina Diaz-Dempsey, who ran the Kynect booth, has a "secret weapon": she gives out pretty tote bags emblazoned with Kynect logo and Kentuckians under a cheerful sun. In just 7 days at the fair she gave out ~15,000 bags. Diaz-Dempsey only gives bags to people who have listened to her 3-sentence pitch:
We are Kynect - part of the new health care law. Do you know anyone who doesn't have health insurance? You may qualify for Medicaid or a tax credit based on your income.
