Rest in Peace good sir. Your work was intriguing and you had the respect of the military whom you wrote about so often.
How many authors can say they have been on a VIP submarine ride? The late, great Tom Clancy can.
He wrote many great novels, but he also wrote information books about the military as well.
    Gah, so sad now.:(

I played Splinter Cell a few times. Didn't care for it. Hunt for Red October misfired for me as well and that was probably the best of the ones I've seen.
It's not that I think he is a poor writer. He has sold enough books and has enough fans my opinion would be rightly mocked if I did. He just wrote for a genre I never particularly cared for.
    Best wishes to his family.

I felt the same way for the most part, I stay away from novels or stories that are within that realm. except when he wrote, i don't know why. i just liked the way he did it.

We've lost a real treasure! His family and friends will be in my prayers. My dad loved reading his books and I usually read everything my dad thought was good. My dad passed away, so I now have all of his books. May God help comfort them.

I can't remember the name but if I am not mistaken it was about the Russians crossing into West Germany and the ultimate WWIII war. Of course I could be mistaken that it was him but that was a very good book.

Red Storm Rising, I still read it every couple of years to remind me of the fear and paranoia of both sides during the Cold War.

Now the terrorists (the "real" terrorists for all you Politix writers out there) will have to come up with their own ideas for wrecking the peace of freedom loving Americans.

@MadAmerican - no hate intended. Just pointing out that I read about terrorists running planes into buildings way before 9/11. And the person who thought it up was Mr. Clancy. His books should be required reading for FBI, CIA and NSA agents.

I don't think his death is without the possibility of murder. He is a strong conservative writer. Think about this. We have more mass shootings more frequent since Obama has been in office. All gay people that new Obama and spoke forward are dead. Now Tom Clancy is dead from "unknown" causes at age 66. It makes me suspicious. By presidential decree all of Obama's history records have been sealed. Our most corrupt president Nixon hasn't even done that.

Sad that any good person should pass at a relatively young age. Particularly when they brought so much entertainment to the rest of the world.

"Battle Ready" A really great read. Heck, I would strongly recommend all of his works. The world lost a great author this day.

Good writer. Quite the cheerleader for the Pentagon, weapons, and war in general; it's surprising that he never served in the military. On the other hand, not really surprising at all, but my, did he write vicarious thrills for millions of chickenhawks.
