The Cruz Kux Klan wants Al Queda to attack again so they can throw more money into Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics. The Tea Party wants the government to cut taxes and regulations on billionaires while removing all safety nets for the poor, turning the USA into Mexico.

The offending Tea Party Members and Boehner should be indicted for SEDITION:
The blatant attempt to overthrow the law of the land and to prevent democracy from functioning as set forth in the Constitution SEDITION DEFINITION :the crime of saying, writing, or doing something that encourages people to disobey their government incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority
i ASK YOU NEO: Why the refusal to bring a vote to the House floor. Do you prefer being shackled by a tiny minority who represent a miniscule minority of the US Citizens

@WallStreet Sedition? Really? Overthrow the law of the land? How about the will of the people? If Obama would allow those who want to wait a year and see how the new health care law pans out would do so, we could move forward. If big business gets a year, why not the rest of us?

if the Tea Party (a minority group) is controlling the nation I guess our civics classes need to be rewritten. Minority can't control the government, every vote is and has been won by the majority.
  • #25
    !
It's because of the unwritten House rule that a majority of the majority needs to vote yes on something before presenting a bill on the floor. On the senate side you have the fillibuster which has been used more in this presidency than any in history. Couple the two together and you have a congress that has put fewer bills on the President's desk than any other President. The minority is not supposed to control the govt, but that has always been with the thought that the minority actually wants govt to function, when you have people in govt who don't want govt to work, this is what you get. In future generations this is going to be fascinating to study.

@AceLuby As you correctly pointed out , it's laughable to read the ignorant and uneducated words of Tea Baggers, it's no wonder they're tools.
  • #73

Exactly, they are just a convenient scapegoat for the left to use. They, for some reason, are irrationally terrified of the Tea Party. Terrified enough to turn the IRS loose on them to prevent them from sinking Obama's election in 2012. It's just more irrational, hysterical Drama Queen rhetoric.

Does everyone understand what is going on? The United States, one day after the 12 year anniversary of the 9/11 Terror Attacks, has now contributed arms to the cause of those same people who perpetrated them. We are now actively supporting a terrorist network, not just a terrorist network, THE terrorist network. It has taken 12 years for the United States government to forget the names of those responsible for thousands of American dead, it has taken 12 years for the government to decide that those lives, and the sacrifice of thousands of service members do not matter anymore. This should hurt, and it should hurt a lot.

What should be running through everyone’s mind is that while we are arming al-Qaeda in Syria, we are fighting them in many other areas. Those same weapons we supply the rebels with in Syria, could be used against our forces in Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, or against our allies in Israel.

@BravoJuliet The senate has amended and passed multiple bills and sent them back to the house, it's the house who shouts those are dead on arrival and repasses their original bills.

This is a load of crap, Obama is causing this, if he is gonna push Obamacare on us then Congress and big business needs to take it too, and Obama and his families should have to enroll, his family is no better than mine!

Let's see the house sends up several plans to the senate and the senate flatly refuses them. Harry and Barry refuse any negotiations. Who shut what down.
  • #29
    !
Nope, the house bills were amended, passed, and sent back to the house. It's the house that refuses to vote on those bills. Obama hasn't had a bill cross his desk, so how you can blame him or the senate is beyond me. It's the house that refuses to vote on the amended bills and it's the house that shut down the govt.
  • #61
    !
@JamesR It's not uncommon for the senate to amend bills and send them back. It IS very uncommon for the House leadership to refuse to even vote on them. Boehner has the votes to end this (quite easily it would seem) yet he chooses to let it go on. Even though it is keeping 800,000 people from working.
  • #66
    !
@Kptpredsfan seems to me that the senates idea of negotiation is do what we want or we will do nothing. They have had this attitude since 2011. The American people hate obamacare and want it gone . The folks in the house are just doing what their districts are demanding, finally.
  • #247
    !
@JamesR - Where are you in error? Let me count the ways ...

    1. "the house sends up several plans to the senate and the senate flatly refuses them" What the House has sent up are provisions with conditions, such as "we'll vote up the debt ceiling if we get these concessions." Many of those concessions have already been granted by the Democrat majority in the Senate, such as keeping the sequester budget cuts in place. That's just one example.

    2. "Harry and Barry refuse any negotiations... " Complete that sentence by adding " ... on defunding the ACA." That is the only issue on which they are unwilling to negotiate.

    3. "They have had this attitude since 2011." In Jan. 2011, the House became a GOP majority and the Speaker's gavel passed from Pelosi to Boehner. Since then, they haven't passed a single piece of meaningful legislation. They've spent tens of millions of our taxpayer dollars trying to repeal the ACA over and over again, more than 40 times. This obstructionist "attitude" was copped by the GOP as a direct result of the new Tea Party-affiliated reps.

    4. "The American people hate obamacare and want it gone ." There are so many contradictory polls it's hard to know where to begin. I'll guess you're referring to the Pew poll. See http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/09/16/1239... #. The ACA has lost some approval, however, only a small minority are in favor of the current obstructionism over defunding the ACA.

    5. "The folks in the house are just doing what their districts are demanding, finally." This should probably count as two things. First, it is only the 40 or so Tea Party Republicans who are causing this government shutdown, and second, even if the majority of their constituents disapprove of the ACA, it is only a small minority of those constituents who approve of shutting down the government over it.

Perhaps this is why Obama wanted the shutdown, to aid and abet those he and McCain have already been funding and arming. Our enemies are also on Capitol Hill, and they are not Repubs or the Tea Party.

Obama is responsible, Because he has forced this obamacare carp on people, And the majority of us don't want it. Now he wants to whine and be a crybaby and blame everyone else but himself.
But of course that's something he does.

ymbfkm. e-verify and the panda-cam are shut down, but the PPACA websites are live?? this is theatre, pure and simple. think about who is conducting the theatre, and you'll easily identify who is to blame for any actual damage done. it is Mr.'No Negotiation' Obama, and his cronies in the Senate. he has already delayed (illegally) or refused to act on (illegally) parts of the Patient non-Protection and un-Affordable Care Act, and all he has to do to end this is accept the same delay for the individual mandate that he has already prescribed (illegally) for the business mandate. this is all BS, and it is White House generated BS.

@drpeeper Why won't Boehner allow a vote on the House Floor. It's a very Simple question do we have a democracy or not where majority rules.
  • #178

@drpeeper OK genius from the land of denial... According to all GOP and other sources the House or Boehner is being held hostage by 30 -40 Tea Baggers. The group represents a A minority of the GOP reps, a minority of the total House of Reps. A group Tea Party members from Red States who were in the minority in the 2012 election... Please justify how a minority of the majority party in the House is entitled to paralyze the House of Reps
  • #237

@WallStreet It's OK. You didn't know. Considering they are all Republican, there lies your answer. Some have been there before 2012 so your point is moot.
  • #248

What is you don't get? What difference does it make when they arrived in congress. There are 30-40 members of the Tea Party who caucus with the GOP. they are still a minority of the majority of the house. and their districts represent a miniscule minority of the voting public..
Again a very simple question Please justify how a minority of the majority party in the House is entitled to paralyze the House of Reps and therefore the country.

Dem policies accumulated over decades from trying to buy the votes of the gullible mobs is why we have Obamalaise now. Amateur hour foreign policies hurt security more than a little shutdown of nonessential services.

You have a debt ceiling to solve, what will these anarchists do to help? American economy has been crashing since Monday, only thing keeping it afloat is the belief that this is temporary. This article's title was obviously a mistake. The author should do his homework. It is actually harry reid, obama & the senate dems unwilling to compromise. Obama gave his donors and congress waivers thereby changing the original legislation. Now the teaparty reps want a compromise but as usual this prez will talk to our enemies abroad but not to american citizens. Obama has done far more to jepordize our nat'l security w/ his foreign polcy than cruz or rand could or would ever do. This press is so lacking in journalistic integrity that he is able to get away w/ propaganda like this. It is shameful!
