House Republicans just voted to raise the debt ceiling and end the government shutdown. Congress members passed the bill concocted in the Senate, the one that gave McConnell a nice big piece of pork for the state of Kentucky.
As of 10:15pm ET, 75 Republicans have voted Yea along with 190 Democrats for a running total of 265 to 126.Update, 10:22pm PT: The bill has passed 285-144. No Democrats voted against it.
Most Republicans voted against - including the 30-odd Tea Party Republicans who hoped to defund Obamacare via this selfsame legislation.
The bill averts a potentially disastrous debt default that could have happened as early as Thursday.Via C-Span.
