There is no federal program forcing kids to eat the lunch provided by the preschool. It sounds more like the lunch vendor is the preschool owner's brother or friend. There is a scam here somewhere or they wouldn't bother lying about a federal law.

Just another reason they won't allow voucher. If the government can start their personal control doctrine on 3 year olds, by the time they reach voting age, everything will be, vote for more government control. If anyone happens to be married to a pre-school teacher, you most likely already know how much food is wasted.

Less rights for the parent, more indoctrination of the idea government is supposed to care for you because it knows best for the children.

Most Americans are too dumb and can't think for themselves, nor their children. So the progressive government is there to fill in the void.

@Lynmat : it's Federal Program, not a state program. What's the governor have to do about a program that has been delegated to the Feds?

Like Maine and Va who's govenors signed executive orders protecting local control and students privacy for their schools, states have their own department of education. Lunches for public schools are federal ASSISTED meal programs- which at the state level is usually administered by the state education agency which operates the program thru agreements with school authorities.

Another Democrat program where they need the government to control EVERY aspect of their lives! Pathetic way to exist! I would live for my child's school to stop me from packing their lunch! There are still people out here who want to think for themselves! I do not need lord Obama or his band of morons to make decisions for me!

Head Start was launched in 1965, and further expanded by the Head Start Act in 1981. History must have been a tough subject for you, because Obama was President neither time period.
I don't like Obama, I didn't vote for him. I guess I just choose to hate his policies that exist in reality, I don't need to make shit up.

This is freaking outrageous! I mean even if they have a few kids who are allergic to things like eggs, peanuts, etc. put them at a table/section for kids with allergies. Don't cause a hardship for frugal and possibly UNDEREMPLOYED/UNEMPLOYED Moms and Dads by having stupid rules like this. What Poltal above wrote sounds very likely is the motive. Some Court/Judge needs to insert him/herself into this matter!!!

There is no way in hell I would abide by that rule, and I feel sorry for the poor teacher/ principal who would try to tell me I had to. Absolutely ridiculous.

Hopefully the parents won't take this lying down. They need to respond by getting together and forming a group, getting petitions signed etc...
There is power when the People unite as one. Unfortunately there is also a lot of apathy and laziness present in America, a huge reason why our country is at the mercy of Special Interest groups that have politicians in their pockets.

The only "good" reason a preschool would not allow lunch from home is that they, as an arm of the government, want total control over your children, from cradle to grave.

Michelle didn't have anything to do with Head Start. It was launched in 1965 and further expanded by the Head Start Act in 1981. Thank Ronald or Nancy.

@miketost No, I said "Michelle didn't have anything to do with Head Start". And that is correct. She didn't create the program in the sixties, nor did she have anything to do with the Act passed in 81.
Your link is bad my friend, I attempted to click and read it, but it won't link.

Raise, train and teach your own. If you can't, pull out because the world doesn't need you making screw trophies if you can't raise them and are silly enough to trust the government to do it for you.

Schools should not trump parents in what food choices their children should eat. I make lunches for my children every morning (preschool and 1st grade), and I bag my own lunch for work. I know what is in it. I know how many servings of fruits and veggies I send. I know (roughly) the amount of sugar and sodium they eat. They are far better for them then school lunches. Only once in awhile do my children buy lunch and it is considered a treat.

So if a parent refused to abide by this rule and said they didn't want their child to eat the school's meal, then would the school refuse to feed the child, or would it go against the parents wishes and feed them the school lunch? Would they kick the kid out because the parent wants to be more active in their child's health? There are parents who love to cook and make meals for their children. It's one of the things that helps parents connect and bond with their kids, and I don't see any need for a doctor's excuse to feed your own child.

This is absolutely ridiculous, and I myself wouldn't stand for it. For sure, it would be something me and the school would butt heads on.

Love this part; "I have received word from Federal Programs Preschool pertaining to lunches from home." It's part of the Federal Program...say aren't they pushing Michelle's healthy meals kids don't eat?

I wonder, will 'cake' be on the menu?

It takes a village, parents not involved. The village clearly knows what is right for the child. In a couple of years they will be moving children into state run dormitories so the children will be cared for by appropriate professionals. This will allow both parents to work and pay the necessarily high taxes. They will BBS lucky to keep a quarter of their pay.

    It's a brave new world.
