OH This is via "Think Progress" The radical lefty site. Not a shock.

Will there be signs that say 'Yay!!! I sucked a life out of my body!!"

@BravoJuliet Seems a little more than just 'ok'.. The thing in the picture is stating proud to be 1 in 3. So its actually proud that it made a mistake and then had that 'mistake' sucked out of it.

But they don't have to be responsible? What about the woman "choosing" to keep her legs closed or how about "choosing" to use birth control.
  • #292
    !
@Phillyfarmer the man has equal responsibility for protection. Now we have health care that provides it without cost, so hopefully the amount of accidental pregnancies go down. People who argue about women keeping their legs closed are often rejected men who are inadequate down below. You can't call women sluts which is what you are inferring. While I don't like abortion after 1st trimester, as a man in a free country will not impose my beliefs on women. For each new invasive action like state sanctioned rape by transvaginal ultrasound, the man should be forced to get a prostate examine. Respect women and they have it much harder than we do and they don't complain about it.

@Phillyfarmer Birth control IS NOT 100% effective nor are condoms or even absinence, It is their responsibility to have an abortion if they can not care for a baby once it it is born not the state.

@AceLuby It's cool, I asked her on her death bed why she didn't just cross her legs after the first 8 screw trophies. She said I was wise beyond my years and she had no reasonable answer. ;-)

We see surgeries all the time on TV. From Boob Jobs to everything in between. With cameras everywhere- outside, inside the body etc..

Show a couple abortions on TV. Normal and partial birth- just like the above.

Again, the pro-life do realize that abortions did happen BEFORE Roe v. Wade..........RIGHT.
Only, those pre-SCOTUS decision abortions usually happened in some back alley "doctor's" office, with unsanitary conditions, dishonorable doctors and usually put the woman's health, life and future reproductive life at risk.....OR just killed her!
Talk about throwing out the baby with the bath water (and include the woman also).....
  • #171

@AceLuby HMMM.....so those that are birthed do not live?

@Phillyfarmer Playing the same card over and over again will do you no good. As a pro-choice, I believe his practices were wrong. But one doctor's practices are not justification for banning abortion altogether.

My lord how you can justify killing a child because you aren't sure your financially ready is disgusting. How callous do you have to be to speak about that with pride? Maybe gang members can have a "How I got my first kill." discussion to take away that stigma? I would think the fact you had to kill a child would be something that you regretted no matter what the situation, though for health or extreme conditions may have been a choice that I could understand and morn with you. This woman's reason is just sickening and she was married (no mention of steps taken to prevent the pregnancy I noticed). People like her deserve no understanding just pity and shun.
  • #15

She had no possible way to support the child, and they both would have kind of downgraded to an impoverished situation.

@KentuckyJim Okay, so can we get rid of the poor? You sound like this:

Scrooge: If they'd rather die, then they had better do it and decrease the surplus population. Good night, gentlemen.

Really my friend who is a single mother had a similar situation but could not kill a child to avoid having a tough start. Sure it took her a longer time to advance in her career and she was extremely poor. But we got together as friends helped where we could and now she is very successful in D.C. and her son is an upstanding young man. The raw selfishness of this woman should disgust everyone.

If she had the baby then you would be bitching because she will be on welfare and getting food stamps and you would be paying for it.

"How callous do you have to be to speak about that with pride?" No one is bragging, just talking about it openly without the shame that you and others like you insist on placing them. You're judging people about whom you know absolutely nothing. That isn't what Jesus taught.

Someone will talk about how healing this is and how they feel better and they all had reasons to destroy a baby. Why do they not say I killed my baby because......then it would make sense. If you are so proud of the fact then admit that was a baby and they now are dead. Start with that and say that and carry on with all the great reasons you have for murder. Don't like it tough luck. I can say what I have to say as well.

No woman is proud of making that choice, but IMO no one should ever make that choice for anyone but herself. A fetus is not a baby, any more than an acorn is an oak tree.

It's a hell of a lot more responsible decision than having mom and dad have to raise the grand baby, or going on welfare, or dropping out of school and starting a life of poverty, or marrying someone you may have had sex with but no there's no future with.

MOST pregnancies are unplanned. MOST of us are here by "accident" and by the grace of God our parents felt financially, mentally and emotionally strong enough to raise us. That's not the case for everyone. A woman/girl who can make the difficult decision to have an abortion is, in my opinion, more responsible than the ones who are so selfish they keep a baby they know very well they can't properly care for.

Nothing here to cheer about. There will ALWAYS be cases where... it is best for it to be done, no doubt.

But the 'norm' should be: 1) responsible behavior. 2) adoption 3) at last resort... terminating a life.
  • #18
    !
    @drpeeper
Abortions performed before the embryo could survive on it's own outside of the host's body are not lives terminated.

After all, "if abortions are murder, then aren't blowjobs cannibalism?"

But I'm with you on the whole responsible behaviour bit. I just don't think young, or those who couldn't support a child, should be punished so harshly for a single mistake. Everyone deserves a second chance. Let them make their own decisions. It's their life, after all, not yours or anyone else's.

@Denizen_Kate First, I don't think it is right to make people feel more comfortable about abortions. Second, the effeminate 'Go ladies, go!' comment nauseated me.

Abortion is good for society. It would be better if people were responsible and used contraceptives but the tea party is trying to ban contraceptives and any type of sexual education. It's sad when we have a group of people dedicated to keeping a generation of ignorant people so the Tea Party will live on with the ignorant and misinformed unwanted children.

@Knightkore Impressive, you post some propaganda about racism from a woman that died 50 years ago in a thread about Abortion. I bet you're the smartest one at the spittoon.

And how is it the tea party does want contraception and sex ed?
Are you talking about the Neo-con tea party? You know the groups of evangelical mid westerners that just love glen beck and Palin, and watches o'Reilly on a daily?
Because I know you're not talking about original tea party groups.

I can't vote, yes or no is not a good choice at all. Talk all you want, but in today's world, anyone who gets pregnant, other than forced sex or failed birth control, didn't do due diligence. There is just too many options to prevent a pregnancy and most of them are dirt cheap. Heck a condom costs pennies if you buy them in bulk. How about the sexually (ALL of them, male and female) active start taking some personal responsibility to not make a baby? Guys? Heard of a condom? They are cheap, will prevent disease AND a pregnancy. Come on boys - you too step up to the plate and do your part. You are too reliant on the woman being protected or being able to abort your carelessness. Takes 2 to tango and 2 to make a baby.
  • #53

Agree with you about personal responsibility. I wouldn't have sex with a man who refused to use a condom, and I would encourage all other women likewise.

That said, guys -- if you won't wear a "raincoat" please get a vasectomy.

This isn`t a contract matter; due dilligence doesn`t enter into biological processes. Women don`t have to qualify to get medical treatment for an unwanted condition.

I am all for condoms and safe sex, but just presuming everyone will use them...or know how to do so correctly...is pollyanna-esque. Women who don`t wish to be pregnant should not have to be.

@cpeter133 MEN, Real men who don't want to be fathers take care of it. And please see the following definition of the phrase "Due Diligence" (One L) from the Webster Dictionary:

" the care that a reasonable person exercises to avoid harm to other persons or their property "

That pretty much covers it. When men have sex, all they have to do is use a condom, they won't spread some STD (or get it) and unless the condom is faulty, no little sperm will go out and meet and have a really good time with a few little eggs. Lady who doesn't want to be preggers, doesn't GET preggers and thanks YOU at the end of the month. Isn't it nice to be a hero?

One should be able to talk about abortions and work through the feelings they have. I don't agree with everyone being able to just choose an abortion, there are reasons that justify an abortion, and should never be done without some serious considerations by the person having the procedure done. It is about choices and repercussions.

So we are entitled to our opinions. The 'Excuse' is that they often can't afford a fetus/potential child- accidental or not. And the costs (very, very high costs) of raising a child for eighteen years often gets passed on to the taxpayer in the form of transfer payments. You wanna pay for them? Be our guest... "It's 'immature' and 'irresponsible' to make others pay for what they did". And no offense but I think your picture is pretentious and filled with self-vanity and/or a sense of insecurity. Potentially 'sick', maybe even 'lame'. Might as well just show your 'aXX' while you're at it.

To all the ones in this story that give the sob story, " i was young and not ready"

SO WAS I! I was 18, a senior in high school. I chose to have my baby. She is now 15, and the light of my life, along with her 3 sisters. Has my life been easy, NOPE, but, really, whose life is? Has every struggle been worth it? 100% YES! Abortion is murder. Plain and simple! Something that has a heartbeat is ALIVE. and with a vaginal ultrasound, a heartbeat in the BABY can be detected as early as 4 weeks.

What she should have said, " I WAS TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE. I got married while in debt and could not afford my debt. SO I MURDERED MY BABY BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I KNEW I SHOULD NOT AFFORD A CHILD RIGHT NOW I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH SENSE TO GO ON THE PILL (GIVEN OUT FREE AT PLANNED PARENTHOOD) AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY BEFORE I HUMPED LIKE A DOG!"

Uh yeah...that conversation begins when certain women stop pretending its not actually a baby, a life. So glad paying off that student loan was more important to you than giving that defenseless baby a chance to live. I'm sure proving that you were "better" than a man in your career will be much more fulfilling later in life than a holding a grandchild on your knee. You bought into a LIE.
