    That's one anecdotal incident.

Offset by the tens of thousands that are cancelled and/or paying much, much more.

(I am absolutely certain that the media would report more stories like this...if there were more.)

Sounds like she hit the proverbial Obamacare lottery. That still means there are many more losers than winners.

When I hear a positive story from Politix's own @BelinKS, then I will be a shade, a shade mind you, more optimistic.

@PauldenZangpo Especially since she claims to be using Obamacare even though preliminary enrollment only began 6 weeks ago. How can she be using insurance that hasn't started yet?

    !
    That's what I thought.

Hey, let's find ONE person who saved money and show them off like it's "proof" that Obamacare works....

Meanwhile, the millions who're losing their insurance or who's premiums will skyrocket.... Nothing to see hear folks, move along.....

@Realthinker Yea, excuse me for being a skeptic yet, but everything and everyone about Obobo Care has been a lie or a liar so far...it would take thousands of these stories to make me think any different at this point.

Good for her and her family, taken with a massive grain of salt due to her turning it into a form of self advertising. I'm sure ALL those people who have rate shock, snd those 39 paniced Dems, just didn't do the correct math.

Just Google her name. LOL This Obamabot has been shilling for him for years. If you wanted a planted story- this is it.

Wait until she sees what the future of Obamacare holds...She'll really be crying and shaking!!! Ignorance is NOT always bliss. This will be far worse than the Website debaucle, just wait. Everyone will be shaking

The liberal media doesn't miss a trick attempting to giving legs to unpopular programs, such as O'Bysmal care. And the program won't be fully implemented until the latter part of 2014 when most of the damage will be realized, Reminds me of the old "Class B" movies, filled with tear jerkers and horse oprah's -- which translates into: "Satan pillows to cry on" and a president that is "all hat and no cattle," attempting to sell those low information types on how sweet smelling his brand of Horse Manure is. IMO, of course. <wink>

@S-N-A-F-U ...Yes, I really liked Oprah, I admired her and was a fan. That said, she came from being 'PO', her words, to becoming the richest , most powerful woman in the Country. We have a black president, the black is 11%, whites were the majority that voted
for him, and the reason he's the POTUS...and we are racists??? Please, does any Dem have a shred of sanity left?! Of course the Leftist media will parade the 'peons' who are
not smart enough to see the damage being done, the evil George Soros is behind that.
What is wrong with these people...Do they STILL believe him?! This is insane.

@S-N-A-F-U Yeah, which is why you see so much hate for the failure known as Medicare Part D passed by the GOP. Because the media is so 'liberal'.

Didn't Fox News already have an interview segment with a group of American married couples who were whinging about loss of coverage and extra expenses under the ACA? Oh, wait ... I forgot, those people turned out to be complete liars and/or dupes. Never mind ...

Also that $19000+ a year she's going to save means she should be higher paying income taxes and receive less of a tax refund since she won't be claiming nearly the amount of medical expenses on her taxes as before.
  • #118
    !
Yes, let's complain about the 10% cut the govt takes on your income instead of the 100% take the insurance company was taking.

    @AceLuby
Ummm actually I wish my tax rate was 10%. That would be awesome. I was merely pointing out that yes she might not be paying that 19k to the providers (sorry it's wasn't going to the insurance company it was going to the provider when her max was reached) but now she will have to let the IRS know she is making an extra 19k in income. Everything has a trade off. As usual for you though you'd rather just attack me than actually have a dialogue.

Her taxes are what they are. She is still paying $19,000 less in premiums and deductibles. I don't understand your logic here. You think it's better that she should pay more to health insurance companies in order to pay a bit less in taxes?
  • #347
    !
    @jdl51
No I'm saying she now will be claiming $19000 more in income this next tax cycle since it will not be deductible for medical expenses. If she is getting any type of subsidy that will most likely be gone. We won't know that for sure until her next tax cycle. I'm just stating a fact that it's awesome if she can save money and get the care she needs, but I'm guessing this story will end up like the other ACA victory story where we find out the person can't afford the insurance when all is said and done.

Well I'm happy it's working for her. My wife and I have had a 90/10 plan for years (and we've paid through the damn nose for it too!) and now because of folks like her getting such benefits the insurance companies are raising everyone's rates. So our 90/10 plan still exists and we still pay through the nose for it. Now of course we pay more for the same coverage we previously enjoyed. Well actually less coverage. Our individual and family deductibles have went up. Our ER copays have went up. Our prescription on drug copays have gone up.

So awesome for her and anyone else who gets these pluses of the ACA, but that's little comfort for the millions who are paying higher premiums or losing their plans.
  • #117
    !
Wow, you're pretty lucky that you're paying the same for this 90/10 plan for a decade before the ACA went into effect. I've had creeping rates and deductibles for years, who is your provider? I'd like to look into an insurance company that only raises rates when they absolutely have to.

    @AceLuby

Years meaning plural which could be 2 or 3 or 10.

I've worked in federal employment for 3 years. Before that I worked for another hospital. There's been a significant jump in our plan from last year to this year. There of course have been slight raises each year, but this year was almost double the normal raise in premium rates over the last year. So I think you read a little too much into it to try and discredit me. No worries I set you straight.
  • #274

And of course, your premiums NEVER went up before. Apparently you're the only person in the entire country who didn't have their health insurance premiums go up ever single year.

Unfortunately, unless other articles I have read were full of lies, this article is full of lies. Obamacare did not "kick in in 2009" so she has not "already saved money". Open enrollment did not start until October 1. Second, if her treatments met the out of pocket limit in January every year, that means that for 11 months of the year her treatments were fully covered. The "out of pocket limit" literally means that once you have met that limit you pay nothing more for the rest of the year. Notice the article doesn't say what they are going to ay for this new insurance she claims to somehow have even though it really doesn't begin until January. The truth is the American people are subsidizing her costs, which means it isn't really "affordable" without help. Just who does she think she is kidding?
  • #25
    !
I caught that too. Have there been any cases of people signing up with a compatible plan in that time frame? If the law went into effect back then, which it did, does that mean that from that inception date, no one can be kicked off their plan? If so, why are so many being canceled NOW, 4 years later?
  • #32
    !
Just goes to show you most people don't read past the first few sentences that confirm what they want to see and hear. That would frequently include the Politix editors who should have caught that and didn't. I would not surprised to learn that woman is being paid to write this propaganda. No, it doesn't mean people cannot be kicked off their plan. Kicking people off their plan and forcing them into exchanges was the goal.

@Zazziness Obviously I read her article or I would not have spotted the multiple lies in the article. Really Zazz. Practice what you preach. Read what Mary posted above and you tell me how many times this woman lies and says Obamacare is already paying for drugs and already saving her money when the insurance itself doesn't start before January? Your willingness to be snookered yet again isn't my problem.
  • #68

@Realthinker You misread the article. That's why I keep recommending you read her blog, too. For shame for saying all these awful and false things about her just because your politics would be better suited if she didn't exist.

Good for her. I'm honestly glad she is receiving the care she needs. However, she saves while others pay much more. If I were her, I'm not sure I would be willing to brag about saving money as so many are losing insurance, losing jobs, or paying higher prices to keep their existing insurance. The ACA is nothing to celebrate. It's a train wreck with a few survivors...as expected. She is opening herself up to attacks because people are hurting.

Where is everyone getting this skewed information? The fact is the percentage of people who will pay more is miniscule compared to the number of people that will be helped.
  • #72
    !
@Canoochee To start with only the people that are already in the "individual market" will possibly be effected by higher costs.......and only a fraction of the people in that market will be affected......so when you consider that the individual market itself makes up about 5% of the whole we are talking about a fraction of 5%......balance that against the millions of people who will get insurance who had none before and the others who will pay less either through better prices or through subsidies and clearly the people that benefit out number those that pay more.
  • #74
    !
How disappointing! I thought you had some concrete numbers.

You don't know how many will pay more. Nor do you know how many will be helped.

You can't possibly claim with any credibility that 'people who will pay more is miniscule (sp) compared to the number of people that will be helped'

What about the 20 to 30 million who will STILL be uninsured?

Not yet it isn't. The program really does not take effect until January so she isn't telling the truth about already benefitting from a program that has yet to be fully implemented.

Left wing blogger married to an actor. Former broadcast journalist. Regular contributor to the MOMocrats site. Their slogan is 'raising the next generation of blue.' Whatsername Schultz is only slightly less believable.

Wonder if she would be willing to have her finances audited to see how truthful she is being?

married to an actor… my husband is laughing so hard he's crying… oh and yes, I'd happily allow our finances to be audited. HAPPILY. We have nothing to hide and we have tons of medical debt. Boy, that sure would be a boring audit. Medical bills and groceries!

BTW we do not qualify for subsidies. We're paying for this plan a lllllll ourselves. My disability currently comes from a private company that I paid into, out of my paycheck, while working for BlogHer. Which means we are currently not taking a DIME of taxpayer $$.

This is good incentive for people to not pay for insurance until they get sick since everyone is immediately eligible for everything when they apply. Just when you think the world is running out of stupid, along comes the democrats...
